Constitution of the Province of Geraldo
Republic of Freedomia
Preamable:
The Province of Geraldo is one of the oldest Freedomian territories. Geraldo seeks to set an example for other territories and to be loyal and true to the Republic always.
Article One: Supreme Territorial Congress of Geraldo
Section 1: All legislative power shall be vested in a Supreme Territorial Congress of Geraldo.
Section 2: Members of the Supreme Territorial Congress of Geraldo shall be appointed by the Governor of Geraldo.
Section 5: The STC may not pass ex post facto laws, pass bills of attainder, pass laws limiting the movement of persons inside the borders of Geraldo, suspend the issuance of writ of habeas corpus except during invasion, rebellion, or national emergency.
Section 6: The STC shall act in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Freedomia, its laws, and decisions by its national government.
Section 7: The STC, in its first meeting after the national elections have concluded, shall appoint a Chairman from amongst its own ranks, who shall be considered the head of the STC.
Section 8: The Chairman shall form a legislative agenda of the STC for the current legislative term, preside over debates in the STC, lawfully punish members of the STC for breaching the rules and decorum of said body, and to appoint various members to different legislative committees within the STC.
Section 9: The STC shall have the responsibility of appointing the members of the
Section 10: All members of the STC, including the Chair, shall have only one vote.
Section 11: Members of the STC shall formally be referred to as Congressmen/Congresswomen collectively, and Congressman/Congresswoman individually.
Section 12: The STC shall have the sole authority of approving the rules and decorum of the body that are to be followed.
Section 13: The STC shall have the power to award honorific titles. The STC may also commission awards to be bestowed on exemplary individuals.
Section 14: The STC shall have a minimum of 5 Congresspeople, and if not enough are elected, then those who are elected shall appoint the rest of the members.
Section 15: The Constitution may be amended or revised through a referendum of all citizens of Geraldo.
Article Two: Governor of Geraldo
Section 1: The Governor of Geraldo shall be elected at the same time as the national elections of Freedomia.
Section 2: The Governor of Geraldo shall not breach the Constitution nor the Supreme Territorial Congress.
Section 3: The Governor may declare a state of emergency, designate holidays, grant pardons, propose motions and acts in Congress, issue proclamations that do not conflict with the laws or Constitution of Geraldo, nor the laws or Constitution of Freedomia.
